Is there any reason why you don't use a low powered amp, such as a Cornford Harlequin or Carrera, as opposed to a high powered head and a Powerbrake?

Impressive setup.

Even with those amps that you've mentioned above (which we do often use), we can benefit from the powerbrake.This is because the room we have for recording the guitars is not that big. Say 8 ft by 6ft. The reflections from the walls being picked up by the mikes can sometimes have a detrimental effect if the sound pressure is too high. Also, more importantly, with the powerbrake, we can really crank the amps up and cash in on some power amp saturation.

A Harlequin on full whack sounds pretty damn loud in our live room!!!

We use Logic 8. Not overly happy with it as it seems a little sluggish on our intel mac but Logic 9 is supposed to have fixed that. Bloody hope so!
